Professional linear lighting fixtures have become an essential tool for movie, TV and broadcast production as well as live entertainment. When ARRI, one of the leading brands in cinematic production, decided to expand their lighting portfolio with a linear luminaire, the solution was not to do what everyone else does, but to challenge every element and find a solution that delivers the brands identity, heritage and functional sophistication.
Our design approach was based on real-life requirements of rigging professionals. Linear fixtures need to adapt to diverse setups, enable intuitive handling, and perform with absolute reliability in demanding environments. Instead of expressing versatility through visible complexity, we translated a wide range of functional demands into an elegant and coherent product architecture. Rigging flexibility, optical adaptability, outdoor usability, and long-term robustness were developed as interdependent parts of one integrated design concept. The result is a product whose form is shaped by use and whose restrained appearance communicates clarity, reliability, and precision.
ARRI Omnibar is a battery-powered, multi-color LED linear fixture for film, broadcast, and event professionals. Our contribution included the development of the product’s formal language, its overall architecture, and the integration of its essential functional features into a robust and highly legible design system. We organized multiple rigging and mounting options into an intuitive setup concept, incorporated integrated magnets and flexible connection points, and translated features such as interchangeable magnetic lenses, a durable aluminium construction, IP65-rated protection, and cordless operation into a design that turns technical performance into an intuitive and reliable professional tool.
